Shock

It has just come to my attention that something terrible has happened.

Once again, I find myself at a loss for words.

Pghguy is gone. Not just in the virtual sense, but in the real sense. Apparently he passed away on June 28, 2006. His obituary is in today's paper. I just found it. I am shocked.

For all the drama. For all the grief. For all the tears. None compare.

Jeff, you were a vital part of our community. You were loved. We will all miss you.

Rob at Unspace has more information. I'm sorry I'm not very literate, I'm devistated.

Oh, my god. I was one of his first commenters on his first blog and then life got in the way. This is a shock...

Are we sure that this is our jeff?

Unfortunatly, I'm pretty sure. I guess there could be more than one Jeff with the right age, right last name, right address in the burgh. But somehow I doubt it.

I haven't accepted it yet. I'm still hoping it is a sick joke. Somehow, I'm starting to get the impression the joke's on me.

Did it say how he died?

Megan said...

so he isn't dead???

I was just reading 'site....she doesn't seem to think he's dead....What makes us think he isn't really dead?

Was it in a real paper or just on the web? What kind of person would publish their obit if they weren't dead? I'm thinking it would be easy to fake on the web...but a real paper could get into some serious legal trouble, couldn't they???

This is just odd....

It was in the paper kids. In theory it could be faked. In theory it could not be him. In theory it could be a sick joke.

Unfortunatly I don't think so. I wish I could have that kind of hope. I just don't.

sorry.

That's the same sight that I saw Megan....it's Sex Blogger's.

I guess we will know for sure when Rob comes back from the viewing...

I guess it's hard to believe because it's so unexpected. But, I guess death is sometimes like that....

Gosh, I'm just horrified. How did this happen?

I'm hoping we have more answers when Rob gets back.

I don't know what happened. He was young (relatively). He was healthy. He was in shape. He took care of himself. I don't understand.

I'm in California - LA area- and the 5:30 news had a one second bleep about a guy in Pittsburg who has filed a lawsuit to whomever started some website about not dating him. I tried to hit it, but they didn't give the spelling so can't share. But I've been reading this blog and the staring shoes chick and I wonder??? Not so dead???

anon, I believe story you saw was surrounding the website www.dontdatehim.com. The pending case, by my understanding, involves a man who believes that in spite of the 1st amendment he can sue for negitive words published.

Technically that would be liable, but only if proven untrue.

It is an interesting case to follow, due to the lack of legal precidence in the body of law surrounding liable and the internet.

However, in order to file a suit, the Plaintiff must first serve the Defendant. Generally this is accomplished by personal service. As the suit has already been filed, service has been made. I was not served. SB was not served. Therefore, even if the story involves Jeff, it does not involve us.

Since the issues surrounding this matter cross state lines, it would have to be tried in federal court. Under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, one must be alive to sue, unless it is being done on one's behalf by the estate.

Seeing as he died Wednesday, and knowing the backlog in probate court, I doubt the estate has been established as of yet. Therefore, I believe it is fair to assume that he is not the individual mentioned on the 5:30 news.

But thank you.
