It's in the Details

Today I was granted a major shift in perspective. That which is truly important is sometimes revealed at times when you least expect it, but when it it most needed. I needed the perspective shift.

There are things in life which outweigh all the crap that our imaginations tend to over concentrate on every day. The piddly little shit like how our hair looks, and whether the dog got a bath. The mundane such as the dishes and the dusting. The ordinary such as the bills and the yard. These things don't matter. They are the time suck which occupies our mind so that the big picture, which is scary, can remain out of focus.

Today, the big picture came into focus, in a very real way. It's time to quit stressin the small stuff. The small stuff is for joy, not for stress. The small stuff like the first cup of coffee in the morning. The feel of cool clean sheets on your bed at night. The sound of the car that you've been working on for three weeks when it turns over for the first time. These are the important joys in life. Everything else is a distraction.

In every day there are the small joys. I can't overlook them anymore.

i don't know caused your change in perspective, from the picture i hope it's not as bad as i'm scared that it is. i know what caused it for me everytime i've needed it, and it's sometimes funny to look at/listen to other people when they're talking, and realize that they've made it their whole life without ever having that moment.

Debi: You know what you need?
Marty: What?
Debi: Shakabuku.
Marty: You wanna tell me what that means?
Debi: It's a swift, spiritual kick to the head that alters your reality forever.
Marty: Oh, that'd be good. I think.

Perspective is ellusive and complicated and transitory. Each one seems real and like the right one...until you find the next. Such is everyday of my disease.

You'll find your way. I have faith in you.
